A Beautiful 1930s Non-Native Sterling Silver Hair Comb set with Natural American Turquoise by the renowned Italian-American silversmith Frank Patania Sr. (1899–1964). Born in Sicily, Patania moved to Santa Fe, NM, where he founded the Thunderbird Shop in 1927. Frank Patania blended European and Native American techniques to create unique design. His innovative style significantly influenced the trajectory of Native American jewelry in the 20th century. This piece is signed with Patania’s “thunderbird” hallmark and a “sterling” die stamp which dates the pieces to the late 1930s. The turquoise stone on the far right has a hairline crack but is securely set.
